Xamax, the work and sportswear clothing specialist, has appointed Open Comms to manage its PR and provide support with social media tools in order to raise the profile of the business to its extensive client base and encourage footfall to its retail outlet, based in Wakefield.

Managing Director of Xamax, Graham Thomson said: “Open Communications were actually recommended to us by another local business who use them. After meeting with the team we felt that they understood our business and would work hard to put in place an on-going PR strategy that would support the continuous growth of our company and the Xamax brand.”

Emma Lupton said: “We are very much looking forward to working with Xamax. With the creds that we have in the manufacturing sector, we are able to hit the ground running and raise the profile of a family business that truly believes in the products and service that it has to offer. There is no doubt that the company has a great story to share which has evolved from flat caps to business success.”

In addition to the account win, Rebecca Hart, former journalist, editorial assistant and keen blogger joins the agency as an Account Executive to support the growing team to draft press materials, engage with bloggers, manage sponsorship proposals and create social media strategies and schedules for an increasing list of clients.

Rebecca said: “I’m really excited to be a part of the team here at Open Comms. The girls in the office have made me feel welcome from day one. I am hoping the diversity of PR will give me an insight into all sectors of the business industry. I’m looking forward to facing the challenges, putting in the hard work and reaping the rewards that come as part and parcel of a job I know I am going to really enjoy for years to come.”

The team are also celebrating as the agency turns five years old. Marking the occasion in true Yorkshire style, the girls from Open Comms enjoyed a cake in a jar, created by Wakefield based Bringmebackacupcake.com.

Emma continues: “We can’t believe it’s been five years since we launched Open Comms. So much has happened since we decided to take the plunge and start an agency that focused on straight talking as opposed to air kissing. It sounds like a cliché but we’ve never looked back and with an exceptional team and enviable list of clients we are very much looking forward to the next five years!”
